BlackBerry kicked off its annual event in South America on May 12th. This year, the company’s focus was on mobile security.

The annual ‘Be Mobile Conference’ is a 2 day event held for media. This year, the conference examined what impact existing and future mobile security trends would have on the governments, businesses and customers.

Mobile security is a hotly debated topic. America’s National Security Agency (NSA) recently revealed that its top secret PRISM program has direct access to the servers owned and operated by several companies including Facebook, Apple and Google. This was an indirect admission that the NSA is spying on user data. Though the program has been in operation since 2007, the companies denied any knowledge of it. These disturbing revelations have reiterated the need to make existing mobile systems more secure.

Obviously security concerns are on everybody’s mind. Since BlackBerry has always put a premium on the security of user data, the company cannot ignore these developments. After all, security on mobile phones is a topic BlackBerry has great interest in.

The company has actively been working with businesses and playing a crucial role in ensuring the safety of their data. So the fact that BlackBerry chose to highlight this topic at the Be Mobile Conference isn’t surprising.

The event was held over two days and included lectures from renowned security experts. In addition, there were interactive presentations and demos on BlackBerry’s mobile security solutions.

This year’s event is the second Be Mobile Conference for South American media.

BlackBerry’s Regional Director for Latin America said that his company is the ‘gold standard’ when it comes to mobile security. People and businesses are getting more and more concerned about mobile security. In such a scenario, the secure mobile enterprise solutions offered by BlackBerry have become more significant.

This year the conference offered a treasure trove of information on the latest trends in mobile security. BlackBerry has a large number of enterprise customers across South America. Over 500 government customers also rely on BlackBerry’s robust security infrastructure.

A global leader in advanced mobile communications, BlackBerry revolutionized the mobile phone industry by launching its BlackBerry cellphones in 1999. The company had a near total monopoly over the market until a few years ago. BlackBerry began to lose market share when mobile phones powered by Google’s Android OS started hitting the market.

It is true that BlackBerry’s fortunes have changed for the worse over the years. However, there is no denying the fact that BlackBerry is still the leader when it comes to secure mobile communications. Even American President Barrack Obama trusts his BlackBerry. The company has been constantly pushing the limits of mobile experiences for decades.

In recent times, BlackBerry has further strengthened its hold on mobile security. In the consumer market, the company may have lost its market share to Apple and Samsung. This only encouraged them to strengthen their hold on mobile security. Today BlackBerry powers the largest law firms and oil and gas businesses in the world. This can be attributed to the fact that BlackBerry has been able to provide peace of mind to business customers across the world.
