Nigerians Looking To Switch To Blackberry From Android

There have been reports that an insurance firm, based in the ever bustling New York City, is returning their smartphones due to certain privacy concerns. However, this might not be some isolated incident. Many firms are following suit and porting from Android to BlackBerry.

An increasing number of Nigerians are shifting to BlackBerry from Android. A vast application pool, bigger displays, cheaply priced hardware contributed to the switch away from BlackBerry in the past. The additional cost of the Android devices failed to deter any users. However, recent reports seem to suggest that several users are switching back into BlackBerry due to the high amount of data subscription costs incurred on Android.

iOS and Android users have repeatedly found that the data available under their usage pattern is not sufficient to meet their requirement. In some cases, the data hardly lasts a week. This just goes to show that, irrespective of the carrier company, the Android and iOS users found that they were not getting the promised amount of data. This would hardly be a concern in most situations. However, data plans are not equal everywhere and Wi-Fi is not readily accessible in most places.

A sufficiently large number of the Nigerian population makes use of BBM for advertising and publicity purposes. Once the option of enjoying a greater amount of data at a reduced cost is made available to them, the switch over to BlackBerry is just a natural progression.

Going by the recent trend, we can safely assume that the Nigerians have gotten a better read on the situation when compared to the North Americans. They seem to have spotted fairly early that the BlackBerry 10 is going to be a far cry away from the old BlackBerry OS. This has lead many customers to returns their iOS and Android Smartphone’s for the good old BlackBerry devices.

BlackBerry 10 users, this time around, have observed that their devices no longer ‘hang’ like before. There are no battery issues to speak of. BlackBerry is once again the preferred choice here.

There may be some skeptics around who would think that a resurgent Nigerian market is of no consequence to the overall market situation. However, the point of prime importance here is the love that customers have for BlackBerry. Once more and more people realize that using a BlackBerry 10 mobile device is easier on the pocket and on the mind, then they would be hard pressed to go for any other device.

Besides, Nigeria is currently one of the foremost of the developed African nations. With an economy of $510 bn and growing, Nigeria also happens to be in the top ten among the most populated countries among the world. With a market of over a 100 million mobile users, Nigeria is capable of effecting changes in the international markets.

Frankly, most of the users who had made the switch had done so due to the attraction of fancy apps that android provided. Now all these apps are available for BlackBerry as well. You would be hard pressed to find a reason not to switch over to using BlackBerry right away.
