Almost every BlackBerry lover is eagerly awaiting the release of the new BlackBerry passport with a high degree of expectation. Taking this situation into account one cannot help but be jealous of Dan Fransisco, an avid BlackBerry lover, who recently had a chance to play around with the yet-to-be, released BlackBerry Passport.
Judging by the excitement that was evident on his face, this device could be the much needed break that BlackBerry deserves. Passport is all set to fire up a lot of business for BlackBerry. The BlackBerry passport is BlackBerry’s next flagship brand. After the successful entry of the Z10 and Q10 devices, BlackBerry is now billing the Passport as the next big thing.
Frankly, we almost cannot wait for this device to hit the markets soon. The device is a whole lot slimmer than you would expect from the press pictures. The passport incorporates an exceptionally sleek build quality and gorgeous lines on the device. From the look of it there is another design award on the way for the BlackBerry. As is the norm with BlackBerry, the keyboard is a thing of beauty. Although, the keys do not seem as large as what was seen on the leaked pictures. The huge screen takes up a lot of the available space. The back panel of the device looks and feels like the playbook, the longer you look at it.
From the limited time available to browse through the device, few key features may be gleaned.
- Very basic Swiping gestures: Swiping up or left takes you to the hub, and scrolling takes you to the home screen.
- The entire keyboard acts like a touchpad. Scrolling is much simpler now; the chance that you click on random links accidentally is no longer there.
- The spacebar moved up an entire row in this device. However, the change is a welcome one. Word prediction and flicking suggested words is a seamless process with this keyboard. Swiping up from the top from a Q10 appears very primitive after handling the Passport. The suggested words also try to include punctuations in between, which is a welcome idea.
The BlackBerry Passport is reportedly due to come out sometime this fall. The device will come out in both white and black. So the choice remains with the user to choose whichever colour they are attracted to. BlackBerry passport is the company’s way of thanking the loyal BlackBerry users for keeping the faith over the years. The BlackBerry Passport is a sure shot winner here. Come this fall, the competition will have a task cut out for them. Passport is the best in design so far from BlackBerry.
The BlackBerry Passport signifies the resurgence of the BlackBerry Company. Out of deep strife, BlackBerry has risen, almost phoenix-like, with the BlackBerry 10 OS and its associated devices. BlackBerry Passport is the first of many more devices that will look to establish BlackBerry’s market dominance once more. BlackBerry 10, the award winning OS will now have a formidable device to go with it. Apple and Samsung, time to watch out for BlackBerry.
