Blackberry Z10 Quick Tip: How to Capture a Screenshot

By Briley (Google)

Taking a screenshot of what’s on your smartphone’s display is sometimes a necessary step. There are many reasons why you would need to do so. For example, to show off that gorgeous new wallpaper you just got, or to show what apps you have installed on your device. Whatever the reason, it’s extremely easy to do on the Blackberry Z10.

For the most part, on other platforms you need to download an app in order to take screenshots. On the Blackberry Z10, the functionality is baked right into the operating system.

That’s right! To take a screenshot on your Blackberry Z10 you don’t need any additional apps or desktop software. You can do it directly on the device with this charming little shortcut.

Blackberry Z10 Quick Tip: How to Capture a Screenshot

Here are the necessary steps for doing so:

  1. Get to the particular screen, or location on the device that you’d like to take a screenshot of.
  2. Press and hold the volume down and volume up keys at the same time. You will then hear a shutter sound, like the camera snapped a photo.
  3. To find your new screenshots, navigate to the ‘pictures’ app and wallah!

If you followed the steps correctly, then you should now see your screenshots.

This is certainly a terrific way to brag to all of your friends and family how stunning your Z10 looks when turned on.

The screenshot feature should work within any app or menu. I had absolutely no problems snapping photos, even while I was in the middle of doing something like swiping to the Blackberry Hub.

Unfortunately, you can’t capture a screenshot while the lock screen is active because it doesn’t work unless the Z10 is unlocked. That’s a real bummer because I personally can’t get over how sweet the fading lock screen is! I would love to capture tons of photos of the lock screen just to show off how it looks and works. Oh well.

Well, that’s it for this quick tip! Expect lots more to come in the future.

I’m having a problem with screenshots. A couple of days ago, I took screenshots and easily found them in the Pictures folder (or in the Camera folder under Device) on the “Personal” side of the device. Wasn’t a problem at all. However, today, the screenshots are being saved in the “Work” side of the device. And here’s the problem. When I’m trying to attach the screenshot to a Text Message, the files are “Personal” not “Work” and the screenshots can’t be seen! I am not given a choice of selecting Personal Device space or Work Device space. It defaults to Personal, whereas, with email attachments, I am given that choice. Any ideas?
