The Blackberry Torch 9810, which is the successor of the popular Torch 9800, is a fantastic smartphone that comes an improved screen, faster processor and the very latest version of the BlackBerry OS. It's fast, reliable and it offers what anyone expects from a Blackberry device.

The Blackberry Torch 9810 is here to satisfy the technical hunger of Blackberry fans. This device is equipped with a sensitive and multifarious touch screen, which provides a combination of functional and aesthetic features.

As a matter of fact, this device is considered among the best Blackberry phones, and is one of the best QWERTY phones in the market. The BB Torch 9810 includes 720p HD recorder, a convenient keyboard, 1.2 GHz processor along with Blackberry 7 OS. Although Blackberry Torch has an elegant and accomplished body and appearance, this device is not without any flaws.

Weighing The Pros & Cons

Blackberry Torch 9810 Review & Specs This device doesn’t exactly have a unique design, but it is better looking than most other Berries. It has touchscreen which is not available with most other Blackberries. The touchscreen does add a different taste to the phone, and allows even easier navigation, but it is nowhere near the touchscreen of an iPhone. RIM provides a virtual keyboard with Torch in case you get lazy and don’t want to slide it open. But typing on Blackberry screen and typing on iPhone screen are two different things. But since Blackberry hasn’t been around for long in the touchscreen area, let’s cut it some slack.

Blackberry Torch 9810: Read The Specs Before Buying This radical smartphone that comes with a sliding keyboard and a multifunctional touchscreen also offers excellent multimedia experience along with the advantage of staying connected to social networks. The previous version of the Torch was also good, though the new version is equipped with advanced features and technologies. In fact, the changes can be noticed in both hardware and software components of this device. For instance, you will get an opportunity to download more apps in the Torch 9810. However, the weight of the new device is same as that of its predecessor.

With 480X240 px screen size, it offers a larger view, which is especially useful for watching videos or surfing the internet. Pinch and zoom allows easier zooming features. And if pinch and zoom isn’t your style, there is always a zooming window on the screen when the text is too small – thanks to the smart technology of Torch. The zoom window will give you an option of zooming into smaller text. Simple select it and your text will become larger.

It has a beautiful chrome finish that sadly starts to fade away in about a year, so if you want to buy it for a lifetime, you need to get its body replaced every year or so. Other than that, it’s got killer looks. That’s one thing that sets Blackberries apart. With an iPhone, you can’t tell whether a person is holding a superior version, but Blackberry’s appearance speaks for itself.

Torch 9810 contains just 8 GB of memory, though it presents a broader horizon because the memory can be enlarged to 32 GB with the help of a MicroSD card. The presence of a microSD slot makes Blackberries much superior to iPhones.

The 1.2 GHz processor along with the fine display is considered the powerful features of this phone. Besides this, the 768 MB RAM provides a convenient browsing experience. Though CPU and RAM are pretty decent, the phone still gives lag sometimes while playing videos.

Blackberry Torch 9810 From The Backside The 5 megapixel camera that is present in this device is similar to the one present in the previous version. With a resolution of 2592 x 1944p along with LED flash, you can get pretty decent pics with this camera. That’s the maximum you can expect from a smartphone for now. For more than that, you should try a digital camera. If you have the older version as well, you will notice some clarity difference between the videos recorded from these devices. There is no flash for videos so if you want to capture a video in dark, you’ll be out of luck.

While the buttons of BB Torch 9810 are placed at the right angle and they make it easy to type long messages, you have other options for typing too. Don’t want to use the physical keyboard, use the on-screen keyboard of the Torch. And if you are too lazy to type, you use the speech-to-text translation that comes with this device. And there are some apps that you can download to enhance the text-to-speech functionality, but the problem is that decent Blackberry apps are mostly paid. If you have recently switched over from iPhone or Android, you’ll find this thing irksome. If you don’t want to pay for apps, you have to do with whatever RIM gives you for free.
