The upcoming BlackBerry Leap is now up for pre-order on ShopBlackBerry. If you pre-order your Leap now, you will get your unit as soon as it becomes available. Only a limited number of units are available now, so you have to act fast.

The Leap is a 5 inch HD touch device. It was unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in March 2015. Right now BlackBerry fans in the US, the UK, France and Germany can pre-order the device. BlackBerry is expected to reveal more details about availability and pricing in other parts of the world in the next few weeks.

While BlackBerry has been concentrating on launching devices with physical keyboards, the Leap is an all-touch device. The touchscreen keyboard on this device will have multi-language support. It will also possess superior error detection capabilities.

BlackBerry still has not announced an official launch date, but the Leap is expected to hit the market sometime soon. If you are moving from a phone with a keyboard to the all-touch Leap, we have got some tips for you. These tips will help you take advantage of Leap’s 5 inch HD touch display and the powerful features of the BlackBerry OS version 10.3.1.

Tips for users new to all-touch devices

If you are moving to an all-touch device, here are a few things you must know.

Swipe to delete

If you want to delete just one word, you have to swipe from right to left with one finger. If you want to delete 2 words, use two fingers.

If you swipe down with one finger from the top of the onscreen keyboard you can quickly change input methods (numeric, text, symbols).

To move the cursor to a particular location, tap the left, right, top or bottom of the cursor. If you want to type with greater accuracy, you should turn on ‘Keypress Pop-up’. This feature will allow you to see which keys you’re entering. To turn on this option, go to ‘Settings’ > ‘Language and Input’ > ‘Feedback’ > ‘Keypress Pop-up’.

Accented characters

When you tap and hold a key you will be able to see all available accented characters. Move your finger right or left to select a character.

To see the time and battery level without leaving an application, swipe up from the lower part of the display and hold your finger on it. Now you will get to see the time and battery level. When you swipe down and take your finger off the screen, you will be back to what you were doing.

BlackBerry Leap BlackBerry 10 supports universal search. It allows you to search everything on your device including apps, emails, text, contact etc.

The BlackBerry 10.3.1 is designed for multi-tasking. You can open browsers, messages, apps and media all at once. You can even have up to ten tabs open at the same time and you will be able to switch between various applications quickly. The Leap has a powerful processor, so you will not experience any lag.

If you use your phone for both work and personal needs, it is possible for you to have different device and work passwords. While you will need a strong password for work partition, you can use a simple password for your personal partition.
