If you live in India, then you’re in luck! Premium RIM stores in Delhi, Gurgaon and Mumbai are offering a free 4GB microSD card with pre-loaded media to new customers. Of course, you have to buy a new Blackberry smartphone to acquire the incentive.
The Free microSD Deal
The free microSD card also comes pre-installed with two movies, which you can choose from a particular lineup. Several of the free movies include native content from Indie and other blockbuster titles.
If you buy a new phone, and receive the free 4GB microSD card, you can choose two titles from the following list of movies to be pre-installed on your card:
- Bodyguard (2012)
- 3 Idiots
- Rowdy Rathore
- Remember the Titans
- The Rock
- Prince of Persia
- Pirates of the Caribbean 4
- Gone in 60 Seconds
The deal will end on January 31st, right around the time that Blackberry 10 goes public. If you can hold out a little longer, it might be an excellent idea to wait, then again it’s not a terrible plan to pick up a new Blackberry for a Christmas gift. You could give someone a new phone and keep the microSD card for yourself.
Blackberry Sales Are Booming Elsewhere in The World
Blackberry sales are colossal in India right now. It’s one of several markets that Blackberry is currently seeing tremendous success in.
The Blackberry brand is also booming in Africa. New stores are opening all over the place, including one in Nigeria. Mainly the younger demographic is obsessed with the Blackberry brand, and because of this it still retains its “cool factor” elsewhere in the world. It may not be so hot to own a Blackberry here in the US anymore, and parts of the UK, but almost everywhere else, Blackberry is still happening.
RIM has negotiated low-cost plans with Airtel and MTN, to provide monthly data plans and affordable cell service to Nigerians. Among the plans offered are the Blackberry Complete Plan (1,400 Naira or less than $10) and the Blackberry Social Plan.
So remember, even though the press in the tech world may be bashing RIM on a daily basis, they’re still doing pretty damn good in the business world thanks to international markets.
In fact, thanks to a positive assessment made by Jefferies & Co analyst Peter Misek, and partly due to the official announcement of BB10s release, RIM’s stock has been on the rise. RIM stock increased more than 3% earlier this week in the Nasdaq.
