BlackBerry has added another cool addition to its lineup of products and services. The new BBM Beta is now available for download.
Year 2014 has been quite exciting for BlackBerry. The company launched several products and services and many of them were received with enthusiasm. BlackBerry introduced its BBM Protected weeks ahead of its scheduled launch for BlackBerry 10 smartphones and other devices running BB operating system in regulated work environments. The response has so far been overwhelmingly positive. Several professionals working in security conscious and regulated industries have already adopted BBM Protected.
BBM Protected allows enterprise customers to take total advantage of the privacy, speed and reliability of BBM for more secure and faster communication and collaboration. It adds an extra layer of protection for messages sent between 2 BlackBerry smartphones. It is designed for enterprise customers who want to protect their data when it is in transit and at rest.
Over the last couple of months, BlackBerry also released several updates to improve the performance of BBM on devices running iPhone and Android. There were BBM updates for BlackBerry devices as well. The updates made attaching files, pictures and other stuff to BBM chats easier. The updates also focused on improving the way users can invite and add new contacts. Overall, the emphasis was on improving quality.
BlackBerry has also grown its BBM Shop. It now includes more than 55 sticker packs. In addition, two new packs are being added every week. For BlackBerry, the release of BB Messenger for Windows Phone Devices was another major achievement. In September, BlackBerry launched 2 new BBM payment methods. One of these – BBM Money – was launched in Indonesia. BlackBerry plans to expand it to other countries sometime soon.
The other payment initiative was in association with TransferTo. Using this service, a BBM user can gift cellular airtime minutes to his or her contacts in different parts of the world.
BlackBerry also launched an association between BBM Channels and HootSuite. Using this, Channel owners can engage with their followers and fans through Hootsuite’s social media platform.
Obviously, the last few weeks have been quite busy for the folks at BlackBerry. BBM now has over 91 million active users spread across the world. Now that it supports multiple platforms, it is attracting more and more users. And BlackBerry has no plans to stop. They are already working on several new exciting things for BBM.
The BBM Beta is already available for download. BlackBerry has launched BBM Beta to add features that users have been asking for. By launching it the company has proved that it listens to its users.

- The new sticker picker features make it easy to browse, choose and use your favorite sticker packs.
- BBM Beta has made image transfers high quality by default. You will no longer have to request a high quality image.
- Also using BBM status updates, Android users can share their playlist with their BB Messenger contacts.
