The BlackBerry Passport is already the most popular BlackBerry handset on the market and BlackBerry wants to cash in on its popularity. The company has announced a Passport trade-up program with the objective of luring iPhone customers into becoming Passport owners.

The Passport Trade-Up Program allows iPhone users to upgrade to the Passport. This is a limited period offer. Starting December 1, iPhone users who upgrade to the Passport can get up to 400 USD cash back on their Apple phone. They will also receive an additional $150 from BlackBerry. This offer is only available in N. America and will be valid from December 1 to February 13. Apple iPhone models that qualify for this program include iPhone 5S, 5C, 5, 4S and 6. Who will benefit from this program?

If you own an iPhone but are not exactly happy with the experience, this is a great opportunity to upgrade to the Passport and enhance your productivity. The Passport allows users to ‘work wide’. It has been at the top of the best-selling unlocked smartphones chart since Amazon and BlackBerry slashed its price from $699 to $499 for the holiday shopping season.

The Trade-up Program is one of the holiday deals BlackBerry announced last week. The new deals make it easy to buy BlackBerry’s new smartphones. BlackBerry has also announced discounts on the Z30 handset.

More financing options

BlackBerry now also accepts PayPal financing. Using their PayPal Credit, customers in the US can now buy unlocked BlackBerry devices and accessories. Customers who purchase items costing over $200 will have the option of completing the transaction through PayPal. They will be able to pay off the balance in 6 installments in 6 months or they can pay off the full amount by the due date.

BlackBerry Passport

Customers who trade their iPhone for a Passport will receive cash back through a Visa Pre Paid card. They will have to submit a valid proof of purchase of a Passport. New Passports have to be purchased from or after December 1, 2014.

When the trade-up program begins BlackBerry will give anywhere between $90 and $400 for an iPhone depending upon its condition. It will also offer $150 on all models in the form of a Visa gift card. The Passport runs $700 without contract. So, a user who trades in a new iPhone and gets $400 for it and the $150 gift card will be able to upgrade to the Passport by paying another $150. Of course, users who are trading in their older iPhones will have to pay more to upgrade to the Passport.

The BlackBerry Passport is a high-end smartphone with a physical keyboard. It is also the best performing BlackBerry in a long time. The device has a 4.5 inch square display which is ideal for viewing spreadsheets, emails and documents. The display is readable outdoors.

The Passport is aimed at enterprise customers who want to get their work done on the go. It may lack some of the multimedia capabilities of the iPhone, but it is not exactly aimed at consumers who want to kill their time. It targets road warriors who want to increase their productivity.
